The 41st session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) has adopted today the EU draft recommendation &nbsp;for the establishment of a Fisheries Restricted Area in the Jabuka\/Pomo Pit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recommendation, based on the proposal of MedReAct and the Recovery Adriatic Project, creates three restricted areas in the Pit, one closed to &nbsp;demersal fisheries (bottom trawling, set longliners, traps) and two &nbsp;where fishing effort will be significantly reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201d The protection by the GFCM of the Jabuka\/Pomo Pit &nbsp;is a milestone &nbsp;decision \u201d said Domitilla Senni, from MedReAct \u2013 \u201cshowing that &nbsp;progress can be achieved even in areas heavily exploited by fisheries.
