Taking Action for the Mediterranean
MedReAct was launched in 2014 by a group of activists and organizations committed to fighting biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea.
We are an independent organization that does not rely on public funds.
We work in direct contact with local communities, scientists, activists, divers and marine conservation managers. We collaborate and network with other organizations committed to marine conservation.
We believe in actions that lead to concrete results, and we intend to prove this with facts. One of these is the protection of the Jabuka/Pomo Pit. Thanks to our campaign, the Jabuka/Pomo Pit has been turned into the largest marine reserve in the Adriatic, producing not only extraordinary results for the recovery of fish stocks but also for marine biodiversity.
Le nostre campagneWe operate in Spain, Italy, and France. To expand our campaigns, we have also promoted the MedSea Alliance, a coalition of non-governmental organizations and other civil society groups. Our goal is to guarantee a healthy future to the Mediterranean Sea.

MedReAct’s mission is to catalyze action for the recovery of Mediterranean marine ecosystems by ensuring a long-term, fair, and sustainable use of our common sea
To achieve our objectives, we:
Science based measures that protect fish stocks and marine ecosystems.
Research, document and expose cases of illegal fishing.
Public initiatives to raise awareness of the environmental crisis and the actions needed to restore the health of seas and oceans.
75% of assessed Mediterranean fish are overfished. Overfishing—along with illegal fishing—is one of the worst threats to the recovery of our sea
Several Mediterranean species are endangered and its marine ecosystems are deteriorating at an alarming rate due to overexploitation and climate change.
Protecting the Mediterranean Sea is more urgent than ever.
MedReAct strives every day to make this change possible.
Spoken words fly away, but facts remain. We always aim to achieve tangible results that can become examples to replicate on a large scale.
We believe in the concreteness of actions, and we defend our independence.
For this, we do not accept donations from multinational coorporations or political entities.
